It’s June 19, and I have ten more days before I turn in the keys I’ve been carrying for the past nine years – keys to the Unitarian Universalist Church of Concord, NH, where I’ve been serving as an associate minister with primary responsibility for lifespan faith exploration. I’ll be exchanging them for the keys to Serendipity, the RV in which I’ll be wandering around the United States for the next [indeterminate time frame, likely several months].
I have already preached my last sermon, told my last story from the chancel, and hugged lots of beloved people goodbye. I’ll be there as staff support for the next two Sundays, and then, as a congregant put it at a little send-off ritual on Sunday, I will embrace the Wild Woman archetype, turning my back to the community and facing instead into the Mystery.

But I’m a creature of comfort, so I’m taking a pretty nice little home with me, along with the dogs, Willow the kitten, and my laptop, among other trappings of the less mysterious aspects of daily life. What I’m not taking is a schedule, a detailed plan, or specific expectations about what will happen once I leave my driveway.
My goals for the trip are to see people I love, meet people I don’t yet know, experience places and situations that expand my horizons, and to listen for what calls to me. I will likely look for a parish ministry job for August 2025, unless I discern something in my travels that sets me on a different course.
And so, here’s my blog, reactivated for a year of reflection and learning. I’ll be starting with Camper Care & Maintenance 101! Right after I complete my service to the congregation that I love so dearly. Stay tuned.
